I have a snippet I use when forwarding emails to my todoist I have it set up as rich text and the font color is to be white so it is not visible to people as a distraction when I use it when replying to emails but it sets the date time and priority in todoist. The issue I’m having is when the text expands in outlook the font color remains black not the designated white that I set up. Is this an outlook issue or a me issue?
I’ve run into similar quirks with Outlook and rich text snippets—especially in the “New Outlook.” It tends to override or ignore certain formatting (like font color) when content is inserted, even if it’s defined correctly in the snippet. So it’s probably not just you.
A couple things you could try:
-
Double-check if your snippet is set to “formatted text, HTML” instead of just rich text—sometimes that sticks better.
-
Paste a test version directly into Outlook and manually set it to white, then reuse that as a base.
-
If you’re using dark/light mode switching, Outlook can also auto-adjust colors, which might be forcing black.
Also, if you ever need to quickly create or tweak naming formats for things like your Todoist tags or snippet labels, I’ve found this tool helpful: generate name.
Curious if anyone else here has found a reliable workaround—Outlook formatting can be pretty stubborn.
Thank you for the recommendations when I did the paste suggestion I noticed a keep source formatting selection and I changed that from merge formatting and now it works perfectly.
