I was taking a look at the release notes for Mac today. I had to scroll down to 7.1, on 14 Dec 2021, to find something that actually looked like a tangible new feature…
Adds “Expand Immediately” to complement the “Keep Delimiter” and “Abandon Delimiter” snippet expansion override options
So, with very little, feature-wise, appearing in the last 3.5 years, I was just curious as to what the Textexpander development team actually do all day? I mean, there’s a Wish list thread on here that has been running for over 6 months, and nothing on that has come to fruition. And, yes, I appreciate there’ll be a dollop of AI coming soon, but will that be anything more than hopping on the “still relevant,” bandwagon?
I know that this post may come across as provocative. But, as a customer, I was led to believe that the virtue of the software subscription model was to deliver more consistent development. The evidence seems to be otherwise in the case of Textexpander. Perhaps the model now is actually, “it’s good enough…let’s just focus on flogging it to as many people as possible,” and i was just being a little naïve.
Genuinely interested to hear as to why things have evidently dried up so starkly. Perhaps one for @breannek?
