Alternate keyboard; missing key, TE-library useless?

Hi all,

I have a problem since I am using TE on a new, tiny 14” MacBookPro.

The keyboard doesnt have a key for “§” (the paragraphe mark?).

Not a big thing, but actually a really big set of my snippets have abbrevations starting with this particular character. I don’t want to re-edit my snippet library, I just want to use an other, suitable keyboard key to use the set that I am using for years now.

But is this possible? Is there a way to make my snippets accessible without a massive re-edit of the snippets?

Hope that some of have some good suggestions!

kind regards,

Mars

Hi Mars! I am not sure I have an answer and as a bit of layperson when it comes to the really cool stuff one can do with TE, I may be entirely on the wrong track, but have you tried creating a keyboard shortcut to replace the paragraph symbol? By way of example, when I was using a mac I always used a 3-key shortcut to access the paragraph and section symbols, as well as pi and delta, since I use them constantly in my work. Then you could use your shortcut to type out your snippets?

Or else maybe you can remove the “only expand when there is a space before the snippet” rule and then create a snippet for the paragraph symbol, then type the rest of your snippet? Not sure that would work…

Hey @MarsAussendorf, I have an idea to bulk change these, but I’m checking with Support to see if we have a better option. How many Snippets do you need to change?

Hey @MarsAussendorf, if you’d like to keep the § symbol, you can do this: Press Option+6 to insert that symbol, then type the rest of your abbreviation. It will expand. Let me know if that doesn’t solve your issue.

Hi Josh, you are absolutely right. It solves the issue, and is probably the best approach for now. It is not what I have hoped for; because its getting some out of my routines.. But it works…

Thanks!
