Matching Fonts/Sizes etc on a Mac

Hi all

I’ve been a TextExpander user on my Mac for a few years, and I’ve only recently started experiencing this issue.

When switching from the legacy version to the new version of Outlook, whenever I use a snippet, it no longer retains the font/formatting, even though the settings are correct. I’ve changed it from rich text to plain text, as mentioned in another thread on here (in plain text, it uses the correct font) and back again, but it still has the same problem after it’s switched back. It shows the regular text as a serif font and the formatted elements in a sans-serif. My ‘regular’ font in everything is a ‘sans-serif’ font, so this is hugely annoying and leaves me having to redo the formatting every time I use a snippet.

I was having this issue in MS Word too, but after changing the default font from “Aptos” to “Calibri”, this appears to have solved the issue. However, in Outlook, I’ve tried changing the global font from Aptos to Calibri, but it still changes the output.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much x

Hi Aly,

I hope this Thursday is treating you well! I’m sorry to hear you’re having this issue. I’m happy to help!

I wonder if an Outlook setting is working against you here. Here is how to check on that in Outlook:

  1. Open a new mail message.
  2. Click the arrow next to the Paste button in the upper left corner (https://share.getcloudapp.com/o0u8XEEA)
  3. Click on ‘Set Default Paste…’
  4. Under ‘Cut, copy and paste’ set ‘Pasting from other programs’ to ‘Keep Source Formatting’

Let me know if this doesn’t work for you, and we’ll get to the bottom of it!

If you need a faster response time don’t hesitate to reach out to us: support@textexpander.com

I hope you have a great day!

All the best,
