New here? Introduce yourself!

Hi Katy:

Curious how you use TextExpander in your photography work? I am a photograher as well and can use some pointers on using TE. Thank You Jim

Welcome @PeterFunk!

Hi everyone,

I’m Mars, a FileMaker developer and consultant working for various clients in the Netherlands. I’ve been using TextExpander for quite some time now — and honestly, I can’t imagine working without it. Whenever it does not work (like in this browser text box right now: expanding is doubled …), a get a bit upset :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I use TextExpander across all my devices — iPad, iPhone, and several Macs. For everything I have to type more then 3 times I trying to find a good abbrevation to never type it again. Main use of TE is to fire standard code snippets into my development projects. I’ve even created a few micro-tools inside snippets using JavaScript. It keeps me wondering what other powerful things TextExpander can do that I haven’t discovered yet.

Looking forward to learning from all of you and sharing tips!

I am … … fat old white guy retired injineer who’s a poor old senior citizen on a fixed income. Been in IT since it was called “data processing” in the late 60’s. From my TE folders, I was using TE in 2018. It replaced a myriad of TXT files for collecting quotes. (A habit I picked up from my sainted mother.) I can’t tell you how many snippets I have now but I have over 50 folders of them (hint hint). I’ve used it when I was working as VP, Info Sec back on Wall Street when it was the place to do IT and big bucks I’ve been blogging at WORDPRESS since 2006 at “Reinke Faces Life”. I’ve self-published several “books” with LULU including my magus opus “CHURCH 10●19●62”, an alternative future history diverging off the Cuban Missie crisis which traumatized me. Laugh!

I hate retirement and blame it on the Social Security rules, age discrimination, and the Gooferment in general. I’m a little L libertarian that learned early in the 70’s at AT&T that pensions were an “illusion” and social security was a Ponzi scheme.

I was motivated to introduce myself because of a great message about some features that I’d use if TE had them.

FWIW (For What It’s worth), YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary!), FAIWWYPFI (Free Advice Is Worth What You Pay For It! ?zero?), PGPIRU (i.e.,“Promote the Guilty; Punish the Innocent; and Reward the Uninvolved.”) and TANSTAAFL (“There Ain’t No Such Thing As A Free Lunch” From Robert Heinlein’s classic)

<<An example of my favorite use of TE since most of my relatives, friends, and readers don’t like my INITIALISM without explanation. All are just plain text with an immediate expansion so I don’t even slwo down when I use them FWIW (For What It’s worth) >>

Hello everyone! My name is Dillan Thrasher and I am the founder and CEO of an eviction service company in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Textexpander has swiftly become an integral part of my company’s workflow productivity. I was amazed at what this tool is capable of. The things that used to drive me insane and kill my mood have disappeared. The monotony of retyping a name or address that I just finished typing and realizing that the judge demands that it be in all caps can not be done with a simple abv is amazing. Documentation is a breeze with the right arsenal of snippets!

Pro-Tip: I created a simple non-malicious keylogger to track my keystrokes and get some data on the best snippets to use based on the stats and it was a game changer. Highly recommend if you’re able to do so safely and can effectively obfuscate your passwords or other sensitive data.

Hi,
Finally able to join this community.
To be honest, I don’t know what’s actually get wrong, but when a user log in to this community for the first time, they should accept terms and agreement. It is however empty and the checkbox is disabled.

I had to fix that locally using dev tools and fool the page by removing disabled=” “ and activate the accept button.

Maybe the team behind this community might want to look into that

This is now fixed!

Awesome!

There’s another section of textexpander website that has weird issue, but that’s not related with this community

Hey everyone, Giovani joining here!

I’ve joined as a fullstack engineer in 2026 and Im completely excited to join the development and improvement of this product! I never worked with any text expansion program, but is amazing to see how useful it is for so many people (including myself!).

I love working as a developer because for me, it is about solving problems, and that makes it so fun. But I mostly enjoy working with nice people, and learn in the process. That’s why I hope I can contribute with my work here, and get the best out of this journey.

Hey everyone! I’m Krista a Product Manager here at TextExpander. I’m happy to be part of the team helping shape the product. I‘m here to learn and connect with the TextExpander community!

Hello, everyone. I’ve been using the old version of Text Expander daily since at least 2012, but just signed up for the latest version in December. I had a notion that I’d nose around the forums and see what else I could add to the snippets and ended up here. Merlin Mann sold me on this program years ago on one of his podcasts, and I’m still using it all the time.

I’m using Text Expander for a good number of shortcuts, but mostly email signatures and phrases I repeat a lot, like:

please Formstack this.

I have a few dozen in my snippet library, and a few of them are used several times a day. It’s been a good ride with Text Expander all these years.
