Tips for Setting Up Your Profile

We use the Discourse software for the TextExpander Community. Discourse should have prompted you to create a username and add a profile pic when you set up your account. You can change these at any time. Additionally, there are other sections you can fill out so we know more about you.

Here’s how to change or finish setting up your profile after you log in.

  1. Click the profile pic in the upper-right corner.
  2. From the menu, click the person icon.
  3. Click Preferences.

That will open to Preferences > Account.

Be sure to check:

  • Username: However you want to be known. We should be able to identify you as you. Click the pencil to edit.
  • Profile Picture: A photo to represent you.
  • Name: Please enter your first and last name so everyone knows who you are.

Note: Be sure to click Save Changes at the bottom if you’ve made any!

Finally, please fill out your About me with a short paragraph about yourself and what you do.

  1. Click Profile.
  2. Fill out your About me.
  3. Scroll down the page. The other sections are optional.
  4. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

You should be all set! Now others click your profile they get a sense of who you are and what you do here.

Introducing Yourself

Now that your profile is set, it’s time to introduce yourself!

Click the TextExpander Community banner to return to the community.

Click TextExpander Talk.

In TextExpander Talk, click the topic called “New here? Introduce yourself!”

Click the big orange Reply button at the bottom of the thread.

Write out a short introduction!

Tips:

  • Don’t know what to say? Use the Snippet com.intro which should be in your TextExpander library.
  • You can format your post with the buttons in the post editor, or, if you know them, Markdown, BBCode, or HTML.
  • Your post is drafted in Markdown on the left. The visual preview appears on the right.
  • Click the Reply button to submit your post.
  • Made a mistake? Click the pencil icon underneath your post to edit it.
