@Amy-LynnTaylor mentioned that her customer support team loves TextExpander. Many of our customers work in customer support, so I’d like to ask the community: What are your tips for using TextExpander in customer support?
I don’t know how many are aware of this, but everyone hired here at TextExpander spends one week in customer support as part of their onboarding. One of our internal tricks is using inline search to find out if we have a Snippet already created to answer a customer’s question.
A lot of customer support involves answering the same question repeatedly, so inline search makes it easy to not only look up the answer but expand it as a response. I’d usually do a bit more work to customize the response, but 90% of the work would already be done.

Hey @JoshCenters
Thank you so much for bringing up this topic! I definitely use inline search too.
One of the coolest tips and tricks that I learned from a fellow support team member is using TextExpander’s fill-in-the-blank form fields to duplicate a key piece of information that you may want to have appear in your snippet several times.
For example, our training team has a couple of long, complex snippets where they refer to the trainee by their first name several times. By adding in single-line form fields and giving them all the same name, (ie: First Name), they only have to enter the first name once when they expand the snippet, and it will appear every place that field is within the snippet. I mean… mind blown
Some of our users here are TextExpander magicians, so I’m sure I’ll have more tips and tricks to share in the future.
I’m so looking forward to seeing tips and tricks from other users!
