If you’ve ever contacted Support, there’s a good chance we’ve asked if you could send us your logs.
So…what exactly are they?
Think of logs as a behind-the-scenes look at what TextExpander was doing when an issue occurred. They help us understand what’s happening “under the hood” and often reveal details that aren’t visible in a screenshot or error message.
Common situations where logs can be especially helpful:
A snippet won’t expand in a specific app
TextExpander crashes unexpectedly
An abbreviation works sometimes, but not others
Performance feels slow or inconsistent
In the latest versions of TextExpander, gathering logs is just a few clicks away from the Help menu on both Mac and Windows.

One important note: Be sure to enable Detailed Logging as shown in the video before gathering logs. Without it, the information we need may not be included.
Question for the Community:
When you run into a technical issue, what’s the first thing you try before contacting support? Screenshots? Restarting? Reinstalling? Something else?
