Hi all - here at TextExpander HQ** today in our internal Slack I shared a Snippet I use to help troubleshooting when Chrome isn’t playing nicely with another app or extension.
For me, the most common extension I’m fighting with is 1Password (not a dig at that app - I actually love it and I use it for my family’s password management too, not just at work).
When I need to get Chrome to restart, but I want to preserve the tabs I’m working in, you can put the URL chrome://restart in the URL bar.
I built a snippet for this:
You’ll notice the Enter keyboard macro at the end. That’s optional! It just presses the Enter button for you when you expand in the URL bar so the restart action happens automatically. You can also just make the snippet contain only chrome://restart and you’ll just see the text appear in the URL bar and you’ll then click the Enter button manually to kick off the restart.
