I did not have textexpander on my iPhone, but was excited to see it on the app store. However, after downloading the app, adding the keyboard, the app continued to ask me to install the keyboard. The other option was to log out. When I went into TE after logging out, I did see all my snippets, but the keyboard did not work, so it was an app without a home. Any ideas?
Hi Harold,
Based on your description, it sounds like ‘Allow Full Access’ for the TextExpander keyboard might not be turned on. These steps should help confirm this.
How to Set Up the TextExpander Keyboard:
- Open the Settings app.
- Choose General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard > TextExpander (under Third-Party Keyboards).
- Once the keyboard has been added, tap on it and switch on Allow Full Access. Allow Full Access is necessary for the Snippets to expand.
- Tap into the keyboard of any app.
- Tap the globe key in the lower left to switch to the TextExpander keyboard. You will see a stylized ’t’ in the right-hand corner of the space bar when it is selected.
You can see a video clip of how to enable Allow Full Access for the TextExpander Keyboard here.
Here’s a clip showing how to switch into the TextExpander Keyboard, so that typing triggers your snippets here.
If you’re still unable to get snippets to expand, feel free to send our Support Team a message, right from the TextExpander app. We’d be happy to help investigate this further for you! You can use the steps below to get us the information we might need.
Please follow the steps below:
- Open the TextExpander app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Scroll down and enable Detailed Logging. The switch will turn orange when it’s enabled.
- After enabling Detailed Logging, reproduce the issue. This step is important, as the logs need to capture the behavior while it’s happening.
- Return to the TextExpander app and tap Report a Problem. This will open an email with the logs already attached.
- Tap the Send button (the arrow in the upper-right corner) to send the report directly to our Support team.
- Once you’ve sent the logs, you can return to the TextExpander app and disable Detailed Logging.
I hope that helps to get things working for you!
